Now, we all know that I am definitely not a beauty guru by any means, and I don't claim to be an expert in anything makeup related. I'm just a makeup obsessed girl who watches a lot of beauty gurus on YouTube. Thus, I bring to you, a product that a lovely lady on Youtube named Roxi (Roxxsaurus) made me buy, two out of the three Makeup Revolution Jewel Collection Eyeshadow Palettes.

I was just minding my own beeswax one day, scrolling through my subscription feed on YouTube when I came across Roxi's video where she was testing new Makeup Revolution launches. In the video, she used the one of the new palettes from their Jewel Collection called "Deluxe". When she first opened the palette, I was immediately intrigued, but it wasn't until she started applying the shade called "Chapter 1" that I had to have it. I remember Josh sitting next to me on the couch and I quickly turned the screen to show him the palette that she was using and all I said to him was "I NEED IT." I turned the screen back to me and continued to watch in amazement of the pigmentation of this palette all the while Josh was probably looking back at me like I was a crazy person.

I HAD TO HAVE THIS PALETTE. So while doing my research on Ulta's website about this palette, I saw that there were another palette in the collection called "Gilded." The shades in this palette coincided with the looks that I usually go for so, of course, I HAD to have this palette as well. After receiving a little extra money from work for Christmas, I ordered the two palettes right away as my Christmas presents. It wasn't until after I received the two palettes and had started to play with them, did I see that there was a third in the Jewel Collection called "Opulent" that I didn't know existed when I was ordering the other two... WHAT?!?! How did I not notice that there was a third palette that I obviously NEED?! I will one day purchase the third palette and feature it in a blog post, but for now, we have Gilded and Deluxe. (I'm coming for you Opulent.. one day...you just wait and see...you shall join your sisters in my collection!!)

The most special thing about these new Jewel palettes is the six newly formulated "cream-powder hybrid" shades that look ridiculously gorgeous on the eye. They have a foil-like finish that shines to the heavens and back. They are so creamy to the touch and so pigmented, it's almost unreal.

(Note to self: Do not swatch eyeshadows while trying to write a blog post.. You're just going to get it all over your fluffy blanket and keyboard.. Lesson learned.)

The Deluxe palette was the first one to catch my eye, from Roxxsaurus's Makeup Revolution video. The packaging is a gorgeous rose gold and the theme continues through to the shadows as well. There is a mixture of light and dark pinks, coppers, and neutrals. I fell in love with the palette, like I said, when I first saw the shade Chapter 1. It's a beautiful, dark magenta, shimmer shadow that is perfect for the girls who in interested in those red-toned shades but I hesitant to commit to red. I'm not usually a pink kind of girl, but the pinks in this palette are just the right shade of pink that don't make me look like I have conjunctivitis. I don't mind them at all, but what I live for in Deluxe are those coppers.

Girl... The copper shades included in the new formulated six at the top of the palette are stunning. Confident and Replay are the types of copper shades that will give you butterflies and make your heart stop when seen in real life. Do you remember when you were like 13 and you saw your celebrity crush in a movie or on TV? If you love copper tones just as much as I do, that's how Confident and Replay will make you feel.

The only qualm that I have with Deluxe is that there are only three matte shades: Still, Baby Face and All Night. Still is a neutral peach shade that can be used as a base. Baby Face is one of those pink shades that looks scary in the pan because it looks like a bright pink, but looks really nice on the eyes. It can work as a transition shade, unlike All Night which is a delicious chocolate brown but its so dark that unless I was getting crazy with a smoky eye, I would not use for a transition shade, but primarily for creating depth in the crease of my eyelid. I've created a few looks with this palette so far, and they've all been completely different, but I've found it a little frustrating to create those looks solely using the mattes in this palette for those transitions. The shade To Die For is a chunkier shadow and I had a little trouble applying it the other day but its absolutely gorgeous and definitely worth the effort to make sure its pigmented on the eye.

I saw Gilded on the Ulta website while I was on my hunt for Deluxe. Since I have blue eyes, I try to stay close to oranges, reddish-browns, browns, coppers, and golds. I find that the warmer shades tend to make my eyes stand out more so I fell in love with Gilded simply for the warmer theme of the shadows. This palette has 10 matte shades which is fantastic! There are two matte coral-y shades, Summer Love and Heatwave, that are no where near close to being the same shade as any of the other shadows that I have in my collection, and they look amazing as transition shades for some of those darker shimmers and foil shadows.

While the copper and gold foil shades in Gilded are stunning as well, they're not as heart-stopping as Confident from the Deluxe palette. They'll make your heart skip but not stop. Due to the numerous choices for a matte transition shade, I tend to gravitate toward this palette more often that I do Deluxe. I feel as though there are so many looks that you can create with Gilded that you could try a new combination of shades ever day for a month and never get the same eye look twice. While I haven't fully tested that statement or written a scientific article for publication about this hypothesis, I have created a completely different look every single time I've used this palette over the past couple of weeks. I've done looks ranging from fierce and fiery to smoky and grungy. I've done bright and dramatic as well as neutral and casual. The possibilities are truly endless with Gilded.

My only issue with Gilded is the shade Heartfelt. It's a chunky glittery shade like To Die For from Deluxe, but it's very gritty. I haven't used it on the eyes yet, but I could imagine that you'd probably need a glitter shadow base for this one to stay put or the fall out would be ridiculous.

While I have heard some complaints about the top 6 newly formulated shadows having fallout, I personally haven't had any issues with any of them thus far. These are foiled shades so you don't need to use a wet eyeshadow brush to apply them; they're highly pigmented enough on their own. If you use your finger to apply the foiled shadows, you will have little to no fallout, more pigmentation, and easier application.

To me, someone who doesn't see the value in purchasing a $55 eyeshadow palette from a high-end brand and not be okay with my decision if the shadows suck, I'm beyond happy to know that I have shadows in my collection that blend nicely, are highly pigmented, are stunning, and the palettes only cost $15. I'm serious! The Jewel Collection Eyeshadow Palettes are only $15 a piece AND I even had a coupon code for $5 off my order! Come on now.. like I always say, shop smarter, not harder.

Pictures do not do these shades any justice and I'm warning you, if you come across these palettes, swatch at your own risk! Keep a fan in your bag, ladies, because we do not need y'all fainting in Ulta from the beauty of these foiled shadows.

I've had a blast playing with these palettes and I can't wait to get my hands on Opulent. If you could choose only one palette out of this collection, which would you choose? (I'd choose Gilded.) Also, if there are any specific shades that you would like me to base an eyeshadow look off of, or if you'd like a walkthrough for one of the eye looks above, let me know in the comments below and follow me on Instagram where you will get to see many more looks from these palettes!
